My name is Katie Simmons. I’m a personal chef, based in Chicago. However, my journey to cooking has been a winding path. I was born in the Kentucky bluegrass, but it was a backpacking trip to New Zealand that led me to fall in love with food. From there, I went to culinary school at Kendall College and then started working for Whole Foods Market. In 2013, I left Whole Foods and started my own business, Chef Katie Simmons. I work as a personal chef in the Chicago area.
In 2012, I took a dare that changed my life. My colleagues at Whole Foods challenged me to a 30-day whole foods, plant-based diet. That 30 days forever altered my health, the way I look at food, and the way I approach my role as a chef. No path is straight and no story comes without twists and turns…

- How did a former dancer and choreographer fall in love with the art of cooking?
- How did a classically-trained chef develop a passion for plant-based cooking?
